With former players among the staff and strong family connections to the club, PCA has been a long-term supporter of Kingsbridge RFC for many years.

After lending their expertise to the original build of the clubhouse, PCA’s services were called upon again when Kingsbridge RFC decided to embark on an ambitious project to extend the same clubhouse.

These new facilities would include extra hospitality space at ground-floor level and additional changing rooms facilities in the basement for the women’s and girls’ teams, plus officials.

Working with Kingsbridge-based architect Mike Derry, of D2O, and local contractor WM, PCA provided the services of engineer Ben Goodman…even though he plays for arch rivals, Salcombe RFC!

The excavation area for the foundations of the site and movement of a floodlight were among the challenges of the build with the clubhouse built on top of a bank that backs onto a public footpath.

Local businesses threw their energy behind the project, and a busy summer saw the clubhouse start to take shape.

Kingsbridge RFC now has an extended facility that befits the needs of a very busy rugby club that supports five senior teams and 13 junior teams for boys and girls, while offering additional space that can be used to generate hospitality income.

PCA director Andrew Horton said: “The rugby club is an important part of the community in Kingsbridge so we have always given our support where we can. It’s great to see this extended facility now up and running as young player numbers, especially, continue to rise.”
