We are looking for an experienced CAD / Revit Technician to join our growing structural engineering consultancy.
We are a small, friendly practice of 17 people, working on a varied range of projects throughout the South-West. Our work includes everything from alterations and extensions to existing buildings through to new-build houses, commercial buildings, retaining structures and more complex engineering projects.
Responsibilities include:
Working closely with our structural engineers, you will help turn engineering concepts and calculations into clear, practical drawings for construction.
Your role will include:
Producing and amending 2D AutoCAD structural drawings
Developing structural drawings and models using Revit
Interpreting engineers' sketches, calculations and design information and translating these into accurate drawings
Preparing general arrangement drawings, sections and structural details
Preparing reinforcement drawings and checking work of colleagues
Liaising with engineers and architects to coordinate structural information
Attending site visits and design meetings where appropriate
Helping maintain drawing standards and project information across the practice
About you
Ideally, you will have:
Experience with AutoCAD and Revit
Good attention to detail and pride in producing accurate drawings.
The ability to understand and interpret technical information.
A willingness to ask questions and learn from engineers and colleagues.
Good communication skills and a practical approach to problem solving.
Full UK driving licence

We are looking for a Trainee CAD Structural CAD Technician to join our growing structural engineering consultancy.
We are a small, friendly practice of 17 people, working on a varied range of projects throughout the South-West. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the start of, or early in, their career who wants to develop their technical drawing skills while gaining a genuine understanding of how buildings are designed and constructed.
Responsibilities include:

The ability to understand and interpret technical information.
A willingness to ask questions and learn from engineers and colleagues.
Good communication skills and a practical approach to problem solving.
Previous experience within structural engineering or construction would be advantageous, but we are happy to consider someone at the beginning of their career who has the right attitude and aptitude.

We are looking for a structural engineer to join our friendly team at PCA. As a structural engineer, you will play a key role in designing, analysing, and delivering a range of structural solutions. You will be required to work collaboratively with other disciplines within the firm to become a valued member of our team.
Responsibilities include: Designing and administering all structural engineering projects assigned to you with due skill and care
Producing structural calculations and specifications, effective designs that use steel, masonry, timber and concrete for co-ordination with other disciplines
Providing leadership and support to the structural engineering team
Assisting in the preparation of fee proposals
Attending site and design team meetings as required, plus inspections and surveys
Taking full overall responsibility for projects assigned and ensure they are completed on time and on budget to the client’s satisfaction
Providing technical support to the rest of our engineering team
Liaising with project managers during the design development to construction stage to ensure the services support systems proposed comply with all regulations and requirements
Liaising with relevant statutory authorities for section agreement approvals
Completing H&S risk assessments in coordination with CDM requirements
Promoting the firm wherever possible by ensuring a professional competent service is provided
Ensuring you are familiar and adhere to latest design standards, codes and mandatory legislation and alike
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, self-motivated and an excellent communicator. You will also have a real passion for architecturally challenging building design.
You will have a degree in structural engineering and will have experience of working for an engineering consultancy in the UK. You will have worked with AutoCAD and other typical engineering modelling software. You will be fully competent in the conceptual and detailed design of structural engineering projects, from small domestic projects to multi-million-pound developments. You will have on-site experience too. Lastly, you will also have a full UK driving licence.

As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced engineering surveyor to join our team at PCA. The successful candidate will be commercially minded and will have excellent customer interaction skills.
You will hold a relevant qualification, preferably RICS or working towards membership, but more importantly you will be enthusiastic, self-motivated, well-organised and methodical. Knowledge of the beautiful area in which we work would be an advantage too, but is not essential.
You will support the work of our consulting engineering team by compiling building and engineering surveys, carrying out contract administration, preparing specifications and carrying out party wall surveys.
In short, you will be an intrinsic part of our team.
Your salary will be dependent on your experience and will come with a decent holiday package. While you will clearly spend time on site, a blend of office and home working will be considered for the right candidate.
